These terms govern the technical inspection and diagnostic service provided by MCM Car Review to the contracting client. The client must accept them before the service is carried out. Acceptance is recorded with a date and time, and the client may download or save a copy.

- Holder: Miguel Ángel Castillo Moner (trading name: MCM Car Review)
- NIF: 43133629G

MCM Car Review provides mobile diagnostics and pre-purchase inspections for used vehicles in Mallorca (travel included). Elsewhere in the Balearic Islands and on mainland Spain, the service is subject to a prior quotation and an additional travel charge.
2. Purpose of the service
MCM Car Review carries out a technical pre-purchase inspection covering more than 160 checkpoints. It uses non-destructive visual, driving and electronic checks, without dismantling components. The client receives a report with a multimedia annex.
3. Technical scope and portable equipment
The inspection takes place at the vehicle’s location or at premises specified by the client. The client acknowledges and accepts the following limitations:
- The portable equipment allows a visual inspection of specific areas underneath the vehicle. It does not provide the full lift or the same inspection access as a workshop hydraulic lift.
- The inspection consists of visual, driving and electronic checks (via the OBD port). It is always carried out without removing protective plastic covers, undertrays, engine parts or structural components.
- Some areas cannot technically be checked outside a fixed workshop: covered sections of the underside and internal engine or gearbox components. MCM Car Review is not liable for the condition of these inaccessible elements.
3.1. Owner’s authorisation
The client is responsible for obtaining permission from the owner or seller for the inspection, connection of diagnostic equipment to the OBD port and, where applicable, the driving test. A road test is carried out only with the owner’s authorisation and while the vehicle’s compulsory insurance is valid. The vehicle is driven during the test by the owner or, with their express authorisation, by the MCM Car Review technician.
3.2. Travel without an inspection
You can cancel or reschedule your appointment free of charge, with a full refund, until the technician sets off. We will notify you by WhatsApp or email when they leave for the appointment.
Once the technician has set off, €60 will be retained to cover travel costs and the remainder of the amount paid will be refunded. This applies both if you cancel while the technician is on the way and if, on arrival, the inspection cannot be carried out for reasons beyond MCM Car Review’s control (the vehicle is unavailable or has been sold, or the seller fails to attend or refuses to allow the inspection). Outside Mallorca, the travel supplement stated in the quote will be retained.
Read the cancellation policyand therefund policy.
3.3. Inspection conditions
Rain, poor lighting or insufficient space may limit the inspection of the paintwork, bodywork and underside. Any such limitations will be noted in the report.
3.4. Report delivery
The report is made available in the client area within a maximum of 48 hours of the inspection.
4. Time-specific scope of the report and use by third parties
The report reflects the cosmetic, electronic and mechanical condition of the items checked on the date, at the time and at the mileage stated in its header.
MCM Car Review is not liable for faults, wear or modifications occurring after the physical inspection has ended. This includes subsequent use by the seller, movements of the vehicle around the showroom or forecourt, subsequent engine starts and road tests with other customers.
The report provides advice on the vehicle’s condition at the time of inspection. It is neither a guarantee nor a prediction of its future condition.
The report is issued solely for the client. MCM Car Review accepts no liability towards third parties who use it without authorisation.
5. No mechanical warranty
MCM Car Review does not sell or issue mechanical warranties for the inspected vehicle. A used vehicle may develop mechanical or electronic faults, even immediately after operating normally during the inspection. If the client buys the vehicle and it subsequently develops a fault, MCM Car Review is not liable for that fault. This limitation does not affect liability for intentional wrongdoing, gross negligence or errors in carrying out the inspection itself.
6. Purchase decision
The report provides information and a diagnostic assessment of the vehicle’s current condition. It is not a recommendation to buy, investment advice or a guarantee of long-term reliability. The decision to buy rests with the client.
7. Seller’s liability
If the seller is a trader (a dealership or used vehicle dealer), current Spanish consumer legislation makes them liable for any lack of conformity of the vehicle. This includes the statutory guarantee applicable to second-hand goods. If the seller is a private individual, that consumer guarantee does not apply and the general rules of the Spanish Civil Code govern the sale.
If a defect, fault or lack of conformity becomes apparent after purchase, the client may exercise their rights against the seller under the applicable law. MCM Car Review is neither the seller nor a guarantor of the vehicle.
8. Concealment of defects, engine cleaning and code clearing
Some sellers may attempt to conceal defects temporarily. The following practices are difficult or impossible to detect during a single mobile inspection:
- Engine cleaning or washing. If the seller cleans the engine to conceal leaks (oil, antifreeze or power steering fluid), the visible traces disappear. It may take tens or hundreds of kilometres for the leak to become visible again.
- Prior clearing of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). If the seller clears the control unit’s memory immediately before the inspection, the diagnostic equipment will show no stored faults. Many latent faults are only logged again under specific driving conditions (temperature, speed or starting cycles), days or weeks later.
MCM Car Review carries out the checks available to it to identify signs of these practices, but cannot guarantee their detection. Depending on the circumstances, such conduct could constitute a breach of the seller’s obligations or even fraud. If this occurs, the client may bring a claim against the seller.
9. Legal note accompanying the report
This report has been prepared by MCM Car Review for information and advisory purposes, based on non-destructive visual, driving and electronic checks, without dismantling components. It reflects the vehicle’s condition at the time of inspection. It is not a statutory guarantee, does not guarantee the absence of defects that cannot be detected without dismantling, and does not replace the client’s own purchase decision.
10. Intellectual property
The report, its structure, photographs and videos are the property of MCM Car Review. They are licensed to the client for personal use in deciding whether to buy and in negotiating with the seller. The client may show the report to their trusted mechanic or financial institution. Reproduction in whole or in part by third parties without express authorisation is prohibited.
11. Data protection
The privacy policy explains how we process the data of the client and the person attending the inspection, as well as any personal data that may appear in photographs or videos of the vehicle (such as registration plates or documents).
12. Applicable law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts determined by the applicable consumer protection rules.
