Pre-purchase used car inspection in Mallorca

BEFORE YOU BUY A USED CAR, KNOW ITS CONDITION.

At MCM Car Review, we inspect used vehicles in person to identify potential visible issues, signs of accidents or repairs, leaks, wear and electronic faults.

We inspect the bodywork, engine, accessible underbody areas, interior and equipment without dismantling components. We also carry out electronic diagnostics and, where technically possible, cross-check mileage information stored in different control units.

Our services

What do we inspect?

Engine and engine bay

  • Visual check for possible oil, coolant or fuel leaks.
  • Check of fluid levels and apparent condition where possible.
  • Visual inspection of hoses, connections and accessible components.
  • Identification of visible damage, repairs or abnormalities.
  • Check for unusual noises or vibrations where conditions allow.

Bodywork and possible repairs

  • General condition of paintwork and bodywork.
  • Visible differences in colour and finish between panels.
  • Alignment and gaps around doors, bonnet, boot and wings.
  • Signs of panel replacement.
  • Visible signs of impact damage or repairs.
  • Signs of possible structural damage in accessible areas.

A visual inspection cannot rule out hidden structural damage.

Vehicle underbody inspection

We visually inspect the vehicle’s underbody where conditions allow, viewing it from ground level without removing any components.

  • Possible oil, coolant or fuel leaks.
  • Visible impact damage, deformation or other damage.
  • Signs of repairs to accessible structural components.
  • Corrosion and rust.
  • Visible condition of suspension and steering.
  • Possible shock absorber leaks.
  • Apparent condition of driveshafts, drivetrain components and gaiters.
  • Exhaust system, mountings and underbody protection.
  • Visible pipes and flexible hoses.

The scope depends on the vehicle’s ground clearance, accessibility and safety conditions. No components are removed, and we do not go underneath vehicles that are not safely supported.

Interior and equipment

  • General condition and wear of the interior.
  • Seats, upholstery and trim.
  • Operation of electric windows and locks.
  • Climate control and ventilation.
  • Lights and controls.
  • Screens and multimedia systems.
  • Dashboard warning lights.
  • Check of accessible equipment functions.

Electronic diagnostics and mileage

  • Reading fault codes from accessible control units.
  • Identification of current or stored faults where the system allows them to be read.
  • Check of available electronic information.
  • Check of mileage records in different control units where technically possible.
  • Identification of possible discrepancies between records.

The information available depends on the vehicle, its electronic systems and the compatibility of the diagnostic equipment. The absence of faults or discrepancies does not guarantee that there are no hidden defects, nor does it certify the mileage.

Frequently asked questions

A visual, functional and electronic check of accessible items: the engine and engine bay, bodywork, underbody, interior and equipment, plus electronic diagnostics. No components are removed.

This depends on the vehicle and the conditions at the location. We give you an estimate when confirming the appointment.

Yes. We coordinate the inspection with the seller at the vehicle’s location, then send you a report with our findings.

No. The inspection is carried out without removing components and is limited to accessible items.

Yes, visually from ground level where conditions allow. The scope depends on the vehicle’s ground clearance, accessibility and safety.

Current or stored fault codes in accessible control units and other available electronic information. This depends on the vehicle and the equipment's compatibility.

Where technically possible, we check mileage records in different control units for potential discrepancies. We cannot certify the mileage.

The inspection cannot guarantee the detection of hidden, intermittent or future faults. We report what we observe at the time of the inspection and any limitations encountered.

If fault codes have recently been cleared, they may not appear during diagnostics. Where the system allows, we check for signs such as incomplete readiness monitors and record these in the report.

Scope of the service

MCM Car Review carries out in-person visual, functional and electronic inspections without dismantling components.

Checks are limited to accessible components and the conditions present at the time of the inspection.

The inspection does not replace a mechanical examination involving dismantling or a specialist structural assessment, nor does it guarantee the detection of hidden, intermittent or future faults.
